2018 Race | June 1-2
This year’s race will be held on Saturday, June 1-2, 2018. We are happy to have teamed up with our friends at ultrasignup.com again to make the registration process simple and quick. Registration will open on January 1st, 2018 at 12:01 AM. We once again anticipate the race to sell out quickly and encourage early sign-up.
The wait-list will be made available as needed after registration.
The prices below reflect what you pay for the race, there is an additional “transaction” fee from Ultrasignup. We anticipate the race to fill quickly. We only have 300 total spots between all three distances. We will not cap the categories individually, but will let them fill up as folks sign up.
- 100 mile- $200 until Feb 1st, then $225 until April 1st, then $250
- 50 mile $100 until Feb 1st, then $125 until April 1st, then $150
- 21 mile – $50 until Feb 1st, then $60 until April 1st, then $70
We have yet to determine this years entrants item, but in the past we have done Patagonia hats, Custom Buff,and Custom Arm Sleeves. We will also be making race shirts (Patagonia Caplilene) that will be available to purchase for $25 at registration, these will not be available for purchase after May 1st.
Before you make the plunge and register, we encourage you to read through the “race info” and “course info” tabs and be sure you know what you’re getting into! This is a very difficult mountain run, held in the spring. Read through the website to find out what this truly means and make sure it’s your cup of tea before you register.

Can I change events at a later date?
Yes. If you’re like many folks your spring training (or lack thereof) might find you not ready to tackle the full 100 mile or 50 mile option that you signed up for and you decide that you’d rather opt for a shorter option. We will work to accommodate you, we will not however refund you the difference if you drop down to a shorter distance.
If you registered for a shorter category and you’d like to step it up to a longer category, we’ll also accommodate you and we will ask that you send us a check for the difference.
We will lock things down a 3 weeks prior to the event, no changes will be allowed 3 weeks prior to the event.
What does your race entry get you?
First off, the opportunity to run one of the most diverse, challenging, and beautiful trail running races in the country. Fully stocked aid stations, several of which are in remote locations. Each racer will get a custom Scout Mountain Ultras item and a finishers award to recognize their accomplishment. As race directors, we take pride in involving the local Pocatello community. Since 2009 we have been fortunate to have the participation of several local artists for unique metals for finishers and beautiful pieces are art for the top 3 finishers in each category. We plan on carrying forward with this tradition. You will also receive unique SMUT apparel, a great meal afterwards, free camping at the start/finish line, and a decent likelihood of winning some schwag from our great sponsors.
**Refund Policy** Runners are eligible for a 75% refund through April 30. No refunds will be offered after this date. All refunds will processed on May 5th to simplify our accounting. You will be mailed a check for the refunded amount. Thank you for your patience regarding refunds.
Any medical or physical condition(s) that may affect your ability to safely take part in this event must be disclosed to the race directors upon registration.
